The first draw of the 2026 FIFA World Cup was recorded on Tuesday evening after one of the tournament hosts, Canada, were held to a 1-1 draw by Bosnia and Herzegovina at LMO Field.
The Dragons stunned the home crowd in the 21st minute when Jovo Lukic found the back of the net to give his side the lead. The Europeans protected their advantage for the remainder of the first half and went into the break with a slender 1-0 lead.
The Reds pushed for an equaliser after the restart and eventually found the breakthrough 12 minutes from full time. Substitute Cyle Larin came off the bench to score and restore parity for the hosts.
Despite late pressure from both sides in search of a winner, neither team could find the decisive goal as the points were shared in the tournament’s first drawn match.
Canada will now turn their attention to a clash against Qatar on June 18 at BC Place, while Bosnia and Herzegovina are set to face Switzerland on the same day at SoFi Stadium.
