The West Africa Examinations Council, WAEC, has commenced thorough investigations into examination malpractices in the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE, involving some two thousand candidates.
The suspected candidates have been invited to answer questions on their alleged involvement in the prohibited behaviours.
The Council has withheld the results of 22,270 candidates across various subjects. It has also invited more than two thousand candidates to assist in the investigation process.
The outcome of the investigation will determine whether the withheld results will be released or further action will be taken.
WAEC had already cancelled the Subject Results of 312 school candidates and three private candidates, on grounds of sending foreign materials, including prepared notes, textbooks, and printed materials, into the examination hall, or colluding with other candidates.
