Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate, assured the people of the Northern Region that the next NDC government will remain committed to their development needs.

Speaking at a large rally on Sunday during the parliamentary campaign launch for Hon. Haruna Iddrisu in the Tamale South Constituency, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that the NDC values the support from the Northern Region.

She promised that an NDC government would prioritize regional development and job creation through initiatives such as the 24-Hour Economy, the Big Push, and the National Apprenticeship Programme.

“Just as you have not turned your backs on our party, we will not turn our backs on the people of Tamale and the Northern Region. Our next government will do more for this region,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stated.

She highlighted past contributions and noted that the NDC has been instrumental in transformative projects in the region, including the University for Development Studies (UDS) and the Tamale International Airport.

She also outlined future plans to address issues facing Muslim communities, such as high Hajj fares, and to expand educational infrastructure in zoos by establishing three new Islamic Senior High Schools across the country’s northern, middle, and southern belts.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang announced that the next NDC government would offer scholarships to Zongo and inner-city students, particularly in law, medicine, engineering, and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

Regarding the parliamentary campaign launch for Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, she urged continued support for the incumbent MP. “I am here not only to launch Hon. Haruna Iddrisu’s parliamentary campaign but also to celebrate him and affirm that he deserves your vote for the next parliament,” she said.

She praised Iddrisu as a knowledgeable and dedicated parliamentarian whose contributions are highly valued. “In Ghana, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu is one such MP that nobody wants to see out of parliament,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang added.

In closing, she called on voters to support Hon. Iddrisu and NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the need for a decisive change to reset the country and create jobs.
