Popular Ghanaian Socialite Efia Odo has said that together with other celebrities joined the #OccupyJulorBiHouse demonstration because they want the best for Ghana.
The Democracy Hub organized the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest against high living costs, leadership failure to resolve economic challenges, poor road infrastructure (#FixTheMotorWay), illegal mining, corruption, and greed.
Several artists, including Kelvyn Boy, Kofi Mole, EL, John Dumelo, and Efia Odo, joined the Day 2 protest on Friday, September 22, 2023.
In an interview with Citi TV, Efia Odo said, “We doing this for the sake of Ghana…There must be a change”.
On Day 1 of the demonstration, despite facing an injunction from the Ghana Police, the protesters went ahead and some were arrested.
The police were strongly criticized for impeding the constitutional right to protest and using excessive force, particularly during the arrests made at the protest.
Efia Odo was asked what she would do if arrested, to which she replied, “If I get arrested today, I will be released and return tomorrow.”
