Office Of The Registrar Of Companies Holds Breast Cancer Screening And Education Exercise For Staff | Health

The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Wednesday 16th undertook an awareness and breast screening exercise for staff of the ORC.

The exercise forms part of the organization’s activities to mark periodically provide education and screening for its staff.

The head of Human Resources at the Office of the Registrar of Companies, Madam Nana Afia Serwaa Gyasi, emphasised the relevance of periodic medical examinations to prevent possible health implications.

She urged women to take advantage of free health screening exercises including breast screening and annual educational exercises. She expressed profound gratitude to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital for their years of engagement with the Registrar General and Office of the Registrar of Companies to improve the overall health needs of the country.  

The Deputy Director of Nursing Services at the Ridge Hospital, Doris Agyei leading the medical team expressed concern about the declining interest of Ghanaians in annual medical checkups.

According to Madam Adjei, even though there has been a positive increase in awareness and screening for breast cancer due to the decentralized initiative taken up by private organizations and NGOs to provide free screening, much needs to be done to improve the effort. 

She however advised breast cancer patients at any stage to seek medical help and to desist from applying local treatment which causes futher implications This year’s screening and education exercise targets 100 staff and members of the ORC, who will also be taken through various awareness programmes and education before screening.
