Arsenal star, Thomas Partey, paid tribute to the late Christian Atsu after his team came back from a 2-goal deficit to beat Bournemouth 3-2 on March 4, 2023.

While Partey’s goal started the Gunners’comeback, his farewell message to his former Ghana National Team teammate has also gone viral.

Christian Atsu died aged 31, after he was reported missing following the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria on Monday, February 6.

His body was sent to Ghana where a memorial service was held for him on Saturday, March 4 in Accra.

Atsu was reported as missing within hours of the earthquake. He scored a last-minute winner for current club Hatayspor in their home game against Turkish Super Lig rivals Kasimpasa on Sunday, February 5 – just hours before the devastating event unfolded.

He joined the Turkish side last September and was in the city of Antakya when the earthquake struck. He also represented the likes of Porto, Everton, Bournemouth and Malaga during his career, as well as playing international football for Ghana.

The government of Ghana has offered to honour Christian Atsu with a state-assisted funeral.
