PSG are making decisive moves to secure the signing of French international Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona by activating his €50m release clause, according to reports from RMC Sport.

PSG is eager to complete the deal before the clause increases to €100m after July 31. While the Parisian club is willing to pay the full amount, only half of it will go to Barcelona, with the rest being split between the player and his agents.

Dembele, who is open to the move, is expected to sign a five-year contract with PSG, and discussions over personal terms are already well-advanced. The French forward is highly regarded by new PSG coach Luis Enrique.

The potential arrival of Dembele is seen as independent of Kylian Mbappe’s future at PSG. The French champions are keen to have both French talents on either flank, in addition to a top striker, though the striker has not been recruited yet.

However, this could mean that Neymar Jr. might not be part of the equation. If Mbappe does leave, Neymar could continue in his position on the left side in Enrique’s 4-3-3 formation.

Dembele has scored 40 goals and assisted 43 in 185 matches for Barcelona since his debut in 2017.
