Ghana U20 head coach Desmond Ofei is confident his side can progress from Group C to the knockout stage of the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament despite a draw against DR Congo in their opening match.The Ghanaian side nicknamed the Black Satellites, kicked off their campaign at the U20 AFCON on Friday, May 2.A lack of concentration in Ghana’s defence allowed Messy Manitu to locate a pinpoint pass through, which Ntanda comfortably slotted past the Ghanaian goalkeeper to gift DR Congo a richly deserved lead.The Black Satellites responded with purpose and equalised in the 24th minute to restore parity to the game.Emmanuel Mensah sliced through the Congolese defence with a through pass, and Aziz Musibau showed great composure to score the equaliser before the contest eventually ended 1-1.Speaking in his post-match interview, Coach Desmond Ofei stated that Ghana remains in contention for qualification to the knockout stage, stressing that Group C remains open.The group is open, and we will fight for qualification, the Ghana U20 head coach said.In the other Group C game played on Friday, Senegal also drew 1-1 with the Central African Republic.It means all four teams in the Group are on one point after the first round of games.
