Iconic Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has expressed concern over the increasing prevalence of cyberbullying on social media.

In a recent post on X, Sarkodie stated that only individuals with exceptional mental strength can withstand the onslaught of online trolls.

He observed that social media has fundamentally altered how people perceive reality, stating, “Social media has reshaped how we engage with reality… only the mentally strong will survive this mental battle… Remember: use it solely for what it’s worth.”

Sarkodie joins a growing chorus of celebrities who have spoken out against the detrimental effects of social media trolls.

In March 2022, fellow Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy cautioned social media users to be mindful of their mental health while using these platforms.

“The toxic level on social media, particularly Twitter, is extremely detrimental to your mental health. Be wise; there is a real world out there. Take that one more seriously,” Stonebwoy advised.

Other prominent figures, including Kuami Eugene, Kidi, and Nana Ama McBrown, have also opened up about the relentless comparisons and attacks on their personal lives by social media trolls, experiences that have taken a toll on their mental health.
