VAR will be introduced in our game soon – GFA boss Kurt Okraku assures

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has revealed that Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be introduced in the Ghanaian topflight football soon.

Mr Okraku made this remark while addressing the press on Friday, August 9 at Sunyani.

According to him, the implementation of the VAR technology would soon be a reality for the nation’s football leagues.

“We will introduce VAR to our football,” stated Kurt Okraku, highlighting the GFA’s commitment to embracing technological advancements in the sport.

He further elaborated that the introduction of VAR is a key component of the GFA’s broader strategy aimed at elevating the standards of refereeing in the country.

He emphasised that the initial phase of this implementation would start with the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have announced September 6 as the kick-off date for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League while the Division One League is expected to also get underway on September 27.
