Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has sent a strong warning to his detractors following a recent petition to FIFA by sports enthusiast Akwasi Ossei Nkrumah.
The petitioner accuses Okraku of potential and actual breaches of the FIFA Code of Ethics and has called for an investigation into the GFA boss.
In response, Okraku delivered a strong message during his speech at the 29th GFA Congress, stating, “By virtue of where I sit, I hold files that can defame and malign people in the Ghana football ecosystem. But I would not do that!”
The petitioner cited forgery and falsification, conflicts of interest in GFA appointments, abuse of position, manipulation of matches or competitions, and duty of loyalty as the basis for the FIFA investigation. However, Okraku did not directly address the specific allegations but made it clear that he would not engage in defamatory actions.
The GFA Congress, held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), was attended by various stakeholders in Ghana football.
It remains to be seen how FIFA will respond to the petition and whether an investigation will be initiated. Okraku, while not directly addressing the accusations, appears determined to continue his work in leading the GFA and advancing Ghana football.
