Dr. Richard Asante Yeboah, Chief Executive Officer of the Public Servants Housing Loan Scheme, has applauded the Members of Parliament and government for giving the green light for the industrial use of cannabis.
The decision permits the legal cultivation of cannabis provided that its THC content is not more than 0.3%.
The approval which follows the the endorsement of cannabis by the Narcotics Control Commission Regulations 2023 however comes with a caveat.
Recreational use of cannabis remains illegal, according to the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery, therefore any person involved in the use of it for any purposes other than industrial purpose is in breach of the law.
Contributing to Peace FM’s panel discussion programme “Kokrokoo”, Dr. Richard Asante Yeboah was thrilled by the parliamentary approval of industrial cannabis, stressing this will largely contribute to the growth of Ghana’s economy.
He explained that the industral use of cannabis has lots of financial benefits, therefore throwing his sole support behind its approval.
“It will help in the expansion of our economy. We can do the labs in Ghana. After cultivation and the exports take place, it can help us to get huge revenues to push our GDP forward”, he established.
