Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif, has urged various federation heads to learn from the good leadership demonstrated by Africa Paralympic Committee President Samson Deen.

Hon. Ussif was the main speaker at the launch of the logo for the Accra 2023 Paralympic Games, the unveiling of the 10-member Local Organising Committee, and the opening of the secretariat at Ridge, a suburb of Accra on Friday, February 24, 2023.

Deen, who was elected President of the AFC in November 2021, pledged to stage the first African Para Games during his tenure and managed to court the support of H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to host the event in Accra.

Following his successful elections in November 2021, Deen pledged to ensure Ghana becomes the first African nation to host the African Para Games and also open the secretariat for the body in the West African nation.

And, within a year in office, the accomplished sports administrator and businessman has been able to lead his team of managers to open the first African Paralympic Secretariat in Accra as well as secure the right to host the first Para Games in Ghana.

The feat excites the sector minister who has called on other federation heads to learn from the leadership of Deen.

“Just within a year, Samson Deen has been able to achieve this milestone by putting this edifice together. This is a testimony for other federation heads to learn from what our good brother Samson Deen is doing,” Hon. Mustapha Ussif said at the launch.

During the event, the chairman of the LOC Chris Boadi-Mensah stated that Ghana would need about $8.5 million to successfully host the Games which is slated for August 2023.
