Medeama on Sunday were crowned champions of the Ghana Premier League in 2022/23, earning GHC300,000 in prize money.
This is an increase from the previous season, when Kotoko received GHC 250,000 in prize money. The increase can be attributed to a successful headline sponsorship deal with betPawa prior to the start of the season. The betting company is investing $6 million over a three-year period.
The Mauve and Yellow sealed their victory with a commanding 3-0 victory over Tamale City in Tarkwa, firmly establishing them as one of Ghana’s top football clubs.

The hero of the decisive match was Jonathan Mensah, whose exceptional performance led to a remarkable hat trick.
Beyond the prize money and glory, Medeama’s triumph paves the way for further success on the continental stage. As champions, they have earned the privilege to represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League in the next season, presenting an opportunity to test their mettle against the best clubs from across Africa.
