Medeama SC have been served an ultimatum of 45 days by FIFA to pay former player Ahmed Toure over GHC 100,000 following the player’s complaint over a breach of contract two years ago.
The 35-year-old striker dragged the club to FIFA for ill-treatment when he was suspended and fined by Medeama SC.
The club ordered Ahmed Toure to pay GHC 1,500 in February 2021 in addition to a one week suspension over an alleged misconduct towards Umar Rabi, the coach but the player seem to have appeared innocent according to FIFA’s ruling.
According to the document released by FIFA, Medeama must pay Ahmed Toure a total of GHC 60,900 as owed bonuses while they settle the player for breach of contract with GHC 40,600 to sum up to GHC 101,500
FIFA further threatened that Medeama would be banned from signing players if they fail to comply.
“Pursuant to art. 24 of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, if full payment (including all applicable interest) is not made within 45 days of notification of this decision, the following consequences shall apply:
“1. The Respondent [Medeama] shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, up until the due amount is paid. The maximum duration of the ban shall be of up to three entire and consecutive registration periods.
“2. The present matter shall be submitted, upon request, to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee if full payment (including all applicable interest) is still not made by the end of the three entire and consecutive registration periods.”
Ahmed Toure is a former player of Kotoko, Bechem United and Congolese giants, AS Vita Club.
