Lionel Messi delivered a stunning performance in his first start for Inter Miami CF as the Argentine superstar scored two brilliant goals and contributed an assist, leading his team to a dominant 4-0 victory over Atlanta United on Tuesday night in Florida.
Teaming up with his former Barcelona teammate, Sergio Busquets, Messi wasted no time in leaving his mark on the game. In the eighth minute, Busquets lofted a perfectly placed ball over Atlanta’s defence, which Messi pounced on, following up his initial shot to give Miami an early 1-0 lead.
Displaying his trademark skill and finesse, Messi struck again in the 22nd minute, this time during a swift counterattack. Robert Taylor provided the assist for Messi’s second goal, doubling Miami’s margin and giving them a comfortable 3-0 advantage at halftime of the Leagues Cup match.

Taylor also played a pivotal role in Miami’s triumph, scoring the team’s third goal. Messi was instrumental once again, providing the assist for Taylor’s impressive strike.
A joy to watch—unless you’re a defender.

The crowd at DRV PNK Stadium erupted with applause when Messi was substituted in the 78th minute, acknowledging his stellar performance with a rousing ovation. Busquets, equally influential on the pitch, left the game six minutes earlier, making way for Victor Ulloa.
Miami’s triumph over Atlanta United ensured they swept their group and advanced to the round of 32 in the Leagues Cup.
