Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has extended warm Christmas greetings to all Ghanaians, reflecting on the country’s remarkable journey in multiparty democracy.
In his message, Bagbin emphasized Ghana’s 32 years of democratic governance, noting it as a key factor in the nation’s global respect and admiration.
He reassured the youth, stating, “Please, the youth, more importantly, the future is bright. I can assure you that Ghana is on the right path. We still remain the beacon of hope, the beacon of democracy, and the country that our colleagues on the African continent are looking up to. Ghana is still seen as the Mecca of the Black race.”
Bagbin acknowledged that while challenges have occurred, Ghana’s commitment to democracy has earned the respect of other nations. “We might have faulted, but people still look up to us particularly as we have maintained this multiparty democracy for 32 good years,” he said.
He concluded by expressing pride in Ghana’s role as a symbol of hope and resilience, saying, “The fact that we are being eulogized by other countries is something that will fulfill and keep our spirit in a good mood to go on.”
