Wolves pulled off an impressive comeback against Chelsea in their Premier League match, thanks to a hat-trick from Matheus Cunha.
The Brazilian winger’s heroics helped his team overcome a 19th-minute deficit and secure a 4-2 victory, moving them up to 10th place in the league table.
Chelsea got off to a bright start, with Cole Palmer opening the scoring in the 19th minute after a neat pass from Moises Caicedo found him in space. However, Wolves refused to back down and fought their way back into the game.
Cunha’s first goal came in the 22nd minute, when his shot took a deflection off Thiago Silva and caught Djordje Petrovic off guard.
The Serbian goalkeeper was again beaten just before halftime, as Rayan Ait-Nouri’s effort from outside the box took a deflection off Axel Disasi and found its way into the net.
Chelsea’s failure to mount a comeback of their own was compounded by Neto’s excellent individual effort in the 62nd minute.
The Portuguese winger beat Silva for pace and squared the ball to Cunha, who tapped in his second goal of the night.
Cunha completed his hat-trick with eight minutes remaining, converting a penalty after being fouled by Malo Gusto.
The 23-year-old forward coolly dispatched the spot kick, sending Petrovic the wrong way and putting the result beyond doubt.
Silva did manage to score a late consolation goal for Chelsea, but it was little solace for the Blues, who slipped to 11th place in the standings.
